POD X3 - What is it?

Line 6 POD X3 Well I must live under a rock. I recently got an email from Ken who runs the site Your Guitar Place. I went to check out his site and I became rather intrigued about the main focus of his site which is to allow users to share their music created with a Line 6 POD product (or other related products). Well I, of course, have no idea what POD X3 is, so I thought I'd find out.

Turns out, at the time of this writing, Line 6, the manufacturer of POD products, has 9 different POD products for the guitar and 4 POD products for the bass. For the sake of figuring out what these products do, I'll focus on the Line 6 POD X3, which is currently called "The Most Powerful POD Ever" on the Line 6 website.

My original thought in looking into this product is that it was just another multi-effects processor. Turns out the little POD X3 is a very versatile product. The POD X3 can be used for the guitar, bass, vocals, or mic'd up instruments. According to Line 6 the X3 has 78 guitar amps, 24 guitar cabs and 98 studio and stomp box effects, the capability of dual tones as well as USB connectivity for computer recording.

What I've mentioned here is just a bit of the wide array of capabilities and features that the POD X3 has to offer. I could go further, but in my research, the more I read on features the more confusing I found it. However, finding some videos to see the product in action makes it a whole lot easier to understand, so I've embedded one of Line 6's YouTube videos:



During my research on the POD X3 I came across a few sites that you may find useful if have or are interested in getting a POD X3 product. Barry Haynes has a site called PODX3.com which has some reviews and information. Your Guitar Place is building a community of users of Line 6 products where they share their music and various amp patch settings.
