Lesson 10 Part 1 - Slide on the Guitar
The guitar slide technique is a very common technique and very simple. Do not confuse this with slide guitar, slide guitar is whole different subject. You will hear slides being played in any situation, but most often there used in solos, but it's very common to hear them in rhythm guitar.

Part 1:
In tablature, a slide, is noted by a slash (/). Slides can go in either direction, but the tab will tell you which way to slide. When performing a slide, the finger you use usually depends on the next note you will play. For this example it does not really matter because were ending after the slide, but for this example we will use our 3rd finger.

Play the slide:
1. Place your 3rd finger 5th fret of the 2nd string.
2. Pick (pluck) the string, keep your third finger pressed down and slide it up to the 7th fret.

The key here is to make sure you continue to press down your 3rd finger as you slide it. Basically, it's play the note --> keeping your finger down slide it up from the 5th across the 6th and stopping on the 7th. It should all be done quickly and in a smooth motion.
