Lead Guitar Solo Lessons: Lesson 2 - Part 1 Solo Bends

Guitar Solo Part 1

In solo lesson 1 of our lead guitar lessons we formed a basic solo. In lesson 2 we will modify this solo with the guitar bend technique. In this lesson we will break the solo down into two parts, but if you would like to hear the whole solo then click here.

Part 1 Sound Files: Solo Part 1 - Normal | Solo Part 1 - Slow
In Part 1 of our lead guitar lesson 1, we learned this riff without any added techniques. In this lesson we are using the same exact pattern except we are going to add a some bends to our solo.

Part 1 - Step by Step
1. First pre-place your 1st Finger on the 12th fret of the second string (do not pick it yet).

2. Now, place your 3rd finger on the 15th fret of the second string, now pick string and bend the string a half note.

3. Lower the bend back down and release your 3rd finger and pick the string. (your 1st finger should already be in position from step 1)

4. Place your 3rd finger on the 14th fret of string 3, pick and bend the string a half note. While bending your 1st finger should move to the 12th fret of the 3rd string.

5. Lower the bend back down and release your 3rd finger and pick the string. (your 1st finger should already be in position)

5. Release your 3rd finger and pick the string, as the 1st finger should now be in place on fret 12 (move your 3rd finger to to the 4th string).

6. Your 3rd finger should be ready to play the next note; press down and play the 14th fret of string four.

7. Your 1st finger should still be at the 12th fret of the third string, press down and play the 12th fret of string three.
